Goyette Mechanical is once again helping to orchestrate Project Heats On in 2022. This is the fourteenth year for what has become a very menaingful community outreach event. Project Heats On selects 40+ Burton area homes each year and provides much needed furnace cleaning, repair and even replacement free of charge for families in need. Selected homes also receive free smoke detectors provided by the Burton Fire Department. This year's event date is Saturday, October 15th.
Much like last year, Project Heat’s On efforts will be slightlyt altered due to COVID-19 protocols. The annual organizational breakfast has been revised to providing box lunches for the volunteers. All COVID-19 safety measures will be in place including face masks for Technicians and proper social distancing will be practiced. Burton City Councilman and Project Heat’s On spokesperson Vaughn Smith appreciates the impact for Burton Residents. “The home owners selected are in need of our assistance, are on a very limited income and would run the risk of having no heat for their family,” “this program does a lot of good for good people that just need a helping hand”.
Since 2009, Project Heats On has serviced nearly 650 homes in Burton. Many of these homes heating systems were in drastic need of repair and several homes received completely new furnace systems. In past years, Project Heats On was praised for identifying multiple homes with damaged equipment that were venting dangerous CO (carbon monoxide) into the home. Project Heats On volunteers were able to prevent situations that could have led to the homeowner's deaths. Each year over 40+ Goyette Mechanical technicians volunteer their time to help make the program happen.
